Can I just paint the walls with sealer?
Sealer paint can help with light dampness. It won't hold back water under pressure from saturated clay.
Interior or exterior?
Exterior stops water at the wall. Interior catches it at the footing and pumps it out. Both work; access, budget and whether the basement is finished usually decide it.
When is the best time of year?
Exterior digging is easiest from spring to fall. Interior work can be done year-round.
Will it stop mould?
Stopping the water removes what mould needs. Existing mould still has to be cleaned up.
Does home insurance cover it?
Usually not for gradual seepage. Overland flooding and sewer backup are separate coverages. Check your policy.
