How it works
- The floor is cut along the wall inside the basement.
- New drain tile is laid beside the footing, in clean gravel.
- A dimple membrane goes on the wall so water runs down into the new drain.
- The drain runs to a sump pit, and a pump sends the water outside.
- The floor is patched.
When it makes sense
- Driveways, decks, trees or a neighbour's house make digging outside hard
- The basement is unfinished or due for renovation anyway
- Water comes in where the wall meets the floor
Cost
Interior drainage generally runs about $70 to $195 per linear foot, roughly $3,000 to $9,000 for many homes. (Saskatoon cost data)
